David Crutchfield
Vice President & Chief Information Officer
David Crutchfield joined Virginia Hospital Center in 2002 as Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for assimilating the organizations strategic goals, developing and maintaining IS Strategic and Tactical Plans, and ensuring successful execution and implementation of solutions that deliver high-value to the organization. These have included a new, state-of-the-art wired and wireless network infrastructure and telecommunications switch, new, standardized PC desktops house-wide, turnkey physician communication and connectivity solutions, remote, secure access to PACS images, and a Physician PDA Solution delivering clinical data directly to physicians in real-time. Under his leadership, the IS Organization has achieved significant gains in Customer Satisfaction and the user community has become more involved and empowered through a new governance structure and the introduction of an extensive IS Training Program.
Prior to joining Virginia Hospital Center, Mr. Crutchfield was Vice President and Chief Information Officer at MedPartners serving the IS needs of over 3000 physicians, Senior Manager for APM Consulting providing healthcare IS and business process reengineering services, and a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young, one of the world's leading professional services firms recognized as a market leader in providing information technology consulting services to the healthcare industry. He received his B.S. and Masters Degrees in Computer and Information Science from Troy University and is an active member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
